Badminton – Our Passion

Welcome to the Meath Badminton Association (MBA), proudly promoting badminton across the county since 1969. Our roots run deep — building on the strong tradition once overseen by the

Kells and District League throughout the late 1950s and 1960s.

What We Do🏸

We support and develop badminton for players of all ages and abilities.
Each season, we organise a full programme of adult and juvenile competitions, including:

  • Meath League

  • Meath Cup

  • Meath Championships

  • Juvenile League & Juvenile Championships

The Meath League is now recognised as the largest county badminton league outside the Dublin & District League, with a strong membership base and continued interest from neighbouring counties — all of whom are warmly welcomed.

Pathways for All Players🏸

We provide a structured playing pathway:

  • 8 graded levels for adults, ensuring fair, competitive play for all standards

  • Age-based competitions for juveniles

Players also have opportunities to represent Meath at Leinster Inter-County events, Individual Championships, and Badminton Ireland national competitions.

Affiliation🏸

Meath Badminton Association is affiliated with:

  • Badminton Ireland – national governing body

  • Leinster Branch – provincial body

This connection strengthens player development and opens doors for progression from local participation to provincial and national competition.

Philosophy – Fair Play🏸

Fair play is at the heart of everything we do. It encourages healthy competition and mutual respect and ultimately ensures the game is enjoyable for both players and supporters. Our commitment to fair play drives us to maintain the highest standards across all competitions. We work to provide experienced, well-trained officials so that matches are run professionally, fairly and in the proper spirit  of the sport.

We are proud that several Meath players have gone on to train and qualify as umpires and line judges, representing the county at national and international levels — a true reflection of the standards we aim to uphold.
